      Sylvanian Families being picky about free publicity is gonna backfire on them. Those toys were considered dated for a long time, they should be thanking Sylvanian Drama for making them relevant again instead of suing her,

      They sound utterly humourless, like the dated and twee cartoon she has made relevant. You couldn’t buy the kind of PR and marketing they’re getting, but clearly they don’t understand the value of it.

      They think this is bad then they would absolutely lose it if they learned the kind of stuff Robot Chicken was getting away with on Adult Swim in 2006 using officially licensed toys

      I don’t see how this content itself is any different from something like Robot Chicken, and parody is protected under fair use in the US (Where the lawsuit was filed).

      Though I guess the problem might be the name of the account being “Sylvania Drama”, could be confused for being affiliated with the original company, and Japanese companies typically tend to be extremely protective of their IP.

      I literally was looking up Sylvanian Families as a gift for a friend *because* of that Tiktok account. I can’t remember what it’s called now, but there’s this thing in the neuroscience of marketing. That it’s not about individual adverts making you want to buy something but the saturation of the brand, it’s that when you think “Oh I want X product” your brain immediately goes to that particular brand.

      They should be fucking grateful.

      They are not wrong, the brand is all on “cute and patootie” while the videos are quite tacky…japanese brands are super serious about how the brand is perceived

      Interestingly this happened after the creator made a pro Palestine post. It could be a coincidence given the owners are Japanese but it’s odd only now they take issue with it after years
