    1. That’s pretty bad Mark, it means you will have to stop doing business here

Fines or lobbying against the law …what’s it going to be

    3. medievalvelocipede on

Key components of the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Code of Practice: Transparency, Copyright Compliance, Safety and Security. However, the Code of Practice is voluntary – the purpose of which is compliance with the EU AI Act.

Anyway, you shouldn’t need to think twice about who’s in the wrong here.

Do you know what will really stunt growth? Blocking your companies from doing business in Europe.

      Our continent, our rules.

    5. atchijov on

The funny part, he doesn’t have anything to sell to EU… so basically… fuck off.

    6. WeRegretToInform on

If you follow codes of practice, then you can be pretty confident that you’re obeying the law.

If you don’t follow codes of practice, then it’s a lot harder to prove that you’re obeying the law.

The EU doesn’t fuck around when it comes to punitive fines. This could get pricy for Zuckerberg.

Trump will probably threaten tariffs again and they will get an exemption.

It isn’t like Meta has brought anything good to the world, good riddance

    9. Truffely on

      Let’s go, ban them!

…oh nvm, I forgot UvdL will probably wait it out until the EU has reached the same standards as the US.

I’m still waiting for Mistral to set up their own social media platform. The only AI allowed to learn from me is Le Chat!

    11. They can even take all their products out of Europe it would be great for our democracies.

I already have Mastodon and Bluesky.

Now he has to come up with an idea. He could give China some AI knowledge maybe even the model, he could instigate AI attacks and argue that all data is needed to stay ahead of China in the digital Arms race.

      …Ohh he already did that.

      Fuck Meta.

    13. AmazingSibylle on

Stun growth….that’s the whole point, to ensure profit is not the only driver for decisions. Profit is good for a small group of already privileged people, the role of government is to protect the interests of the many.

    14. trollsmurf on

With the current US government it’s easy to be bold, as unliked EU laws can lead to increased tariffs.

    15. dat_9600gt_user on

Europe will be magnitudes better off without the Zucc snooping personal data

    16. blueberry_cupcake647 on

Fuck your growth. Grow it somewhere else then. There are alternatives, I hope the EU blocks their apps

    17. Reddit_sucks_3000 on

He won’t sign, you can bet he will still use EU data to feed it and hide it (poorly).

    18. Buckinfrance on

Oh no, if Meta is blocked from the EU I may not be able to use any of their products which I already don’t use.

    19. I like the EU’s stance, to not embrace growth for growth’s sake, to be more deliberate about it.

We don’t need more shit under the pretense of innovation.

    20. snowsuit101 on

Sure, compared to no AI regulations for the next 10 years, anything the EU says certainly sounds like an overreach…

    21. eyeofallofthesinners on

Good ! We don’t want Meta / facebook anymore ! Go back to Colony 13 you bunch of yankees

    22. Effet_Pygmalion on

Meta can suck my cock and balls. Disgusting US tech companies need to vanish

    23. Additional_Grass_670 on

sadly nothing will come out of this since Trump listens to Big Tech and will strong arm the EU

    24. I mean, that is the whole problem with rampant capitalism.

If you remove protections and give people privacy rights and such, then yeah, companies can’t earn as much because they can’t exploit people as much.

There was a statement by JPMorgan how the EU was ‘falling behind’ in terms of profit per citizen, or similar metric, and yeah that is true, but that doesn’t mean progress is stunted.

    25. Wouldn’t it be great if there were actual consequences to things like this? Like, maybe no tech conglomerates pushing their fucked up idea of what AI should be on the EU? Ah well, we can dream.

    26. Life would be so much better if all meta websites and apps were removed
