It’s a long list but aping DOGE is one of the most embarrassing things I’ve seen in British politics for…. weeks

Didn’t Doge basically prove there isn’t a great load of government waste and fraud? All they did was claim that overseas aid was waste but not in a matter of it being inefficient or fraudulent instead just that they don’t like it.
Most of the savings were from firing civil servants in departments they didn’t like, such as the department for education. These savings were immediately undermined by the huge increase in defense and ICE spending coupled with tax cuts for the wealthy.

How can it be efficient to have two similar teams, Reform’s national DOGE team and KCC’s DOLGE team? They’re doing the same job, making up spurious claims and posting them on twitter / facebook to rile up the reformorons.

Its a war they are going to lose Data Protection laws are way more stringent in the UK than the US. The “give me access or your fired” works well in the US here the reply will almost certainly be “OK see you at a tribunal”. I very much doubt anyone is going to give the Reform clown car access to council systems so they will just blame the deep state as usual.

DOGE was a load of crap in the US, and it’ll be a load of crap in the UK. Reform are literally copying MAGA in almost every aspect.

That is the face and hands of someone saying “I’m just asking questions” after saying something incredibly untrue, provably false, and potentially illegal in more civilised countries.

I think it’s going to be interesting to see what happens to Reforms support when they continue to raise council tax (the maximum amount it can be raised), in areas where they’re in power.

To find savings in councils
You need to fully understand how each service operates, what statutory functions they must provide
And also be a forensic accountant
I consult in councils and the only “fluff” areas left
Are things like street cleaning, children’s activities, libraries where there is less statutory duty
And then a nice chucky layer of people that exist to pander the the councillors and their committees, forums, community meetings, media, politics, democratic services etc.
I’ve yet to ever see a Councillor cut their own support group and there is little else left
This is why they’re arguing about flags once they get in

So DOGE used the cover story of efficiency to gut the US departments investigating Musk and his companies.

What is the Reform DOGE trying to cover up?
