Not much will stop them when the prospect of a nice hotel or a free house all paid for by us is so alluring.

Until arriving by boat across the channel results in an automatic one-way ticket to somewhere else for claim processing and not an automatic stay in the UK with the ability to disappear into the black economy even if you’re one of the unlucky ones who gets rejected, nothing will stop them.

Entering a country illegally is ILLEGAL and a CRIME
How this can be solved:
Build 100,000 additional prison places.
Arrest anyone coming here illegally and put them in prison until they are returned to their home country or have a legitimate asylum claim.
Once the boats stop then use the 100,000 spaces to double the size of the Uk prison capacity for domestic criminals
