Who is actually able to follow these “do not travel” warnings without getting into trouble with their employer?
Comes after multiple signalling panels were knocked out on Saturday. Not a good couple of days for the South Western.
Same happened on Saturday, they had signalling faults all day. Luckily we stopped at Clapham junction and TFL unlocked our tickets so we could change trains and go to Victoria station instead.
Wonder if this is the same fault?
This is, presumably, the same fault that knocked out 1-14 over the weekend as well
Some services cancelled, others running 2 hours or more late, but some (presumably heading for other platforms) going through on time
Edited to add link to earlier thread on the fault

Issues like this are exactly why I don’t think nationalisation on its own will magically fix the railways. While I *do* support bringing train operating companies back into public hands, Network Rail, which is responsible for the infrastructure like tracks and signalling, has already been nationalised for over 20 years.
This line still constantly fails due to signalling issues. So clearly, public ownership alone isn’t a cure-all.
We also need proper investment and competent management.
I have been going into London for the last 15 years with work and I see this all the time. Surely by now we could have replaced every single signal.
This started yesterday, couldn’t get out of SW London via rail, had to taxi over to Wimbledon for the District line. 1 hour trip took 2.5 hours! Coming home wasn’t so bad but looks like the issues still remain.
