In Poltava Oblast, police detained two men who were paid to set fire to homes where the families of Ukrainian soldiers lived. They were acting on orders from russian intelligence services.

According to law enforcement, the detained individuals are two men from Kyiv, aged 23 and 33. They received instructions via mobile apps and carried out arson attacks in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, and Poltava regions.

In the Myrhorod district, they placed car tires next to targeted houses and doused them with Molotov cocktails. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no injuries.

During a search of the vehicle the suspects used, police found physical evidence. Their phones contained messages with an agent of the Russian Federation.

The men have been charged under Part 2 of Article 194 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code: “Intentional destruction or damage to property.” They face up to ten years in prison.
