If anyone is interested. Waiting list for social housing in Mayo is long. We are underfunded and there is really problem even with getting people in emergencies (like a person was disabled, lost his job and cannot afford current rent even with HAP) a housing. The above is real and that man was happy he got something (2 bedroom and a living room for family of 4) in less than 2 years. It’s not uncommon to wait over a decade, so it started even before the current housing issue. Burning down a building that could be a home for some families in need is just cruel.
