Please don’t get me wrong. My husband worked 4.5 hours when he came here. Every day was hard at first, and every year it got better and better. We discovered the whole island by walking and hiking. I even bought a electric bike recently. I don’t complain about any part of this country, but I also can’t describe how betrayed I feel.

Last week a TCN complained to Times of Malta that locals only look at them as walking labor. Well it’s not true, walking cash machine more like. The idea is since the salaries are very low to keep as much as possible from that in the system. Don’t send to home to support your family. Spend here for rent, food and administration. And get the fuck out if you lost your job. We get in someone else because that’s another good source of income for the ‘agent’ (connected to politicians of course).

Not 10 days, 30 to 60 days included in the new implementation of new policies

I’ve been saying this for some time, but Malta has implemented a “slavery with extra steps” approach to its labor market in recent years.

You’re free to change employer whenever you want, but it’ll cost you 3% of your annual pre-tax income. Hard to do when that’s likely a full month of rent or 6 months of groceries.

The message is pretty clear. Either continue to be a slave or leave. Election season is soon upon us and the government will start doing things like this to appease the Maltese population in a bid to secure votes. This will likely be done to “protect” jobs for unskilled Maltese workers by pricing out TCNs.

It’s shit, but welcome to modern day slavery.

5 years here and sadly you’ll stick walking on eggshells in order to not getting deported if you don’t find the job you want in the joke grace time

in other countries you would be already a citizen with all the native-born rights. But here they prefer to give away passports to grandchildren of people who escaped Malta towards AU or CA like 100 years ago

Fck em, Maltese people should be the priority of our nation, if you don’t like working here find a more prosperous land that does not exploit you, who is forcing you to come to Malta ?

I’m not satisfied with Maltese wages as a Maltese person, so I moved to a country that satisfied me.
