In realtà erano 29.900 drammi, cioè $ 78/kg.

Armenian greed and lack of any regulations 😂
IDK but every kind of cured meat is ridiculously expensive here.
Prosciutto, Jamon, Bresaola,Salami, Chorizo – usually twice as costly as in Europe – some I can u derstand as imported (though not to that degree).
No excuse for Basturma made from local beef though.
I don’t think Diaspira’s got anything to do with it – Yerevan is getting kinda richer abd prices reflect that + inflation.
That’s probably a premium variety. Regular basturma doesn’t cost that much
I don’t know what you’re complaining for, someone decided to make a premium option and apparently there is a market for it, there is a price point for everyone, and most brands sell at 1/3 or less of that.
Are you also complaining about premium eggs? pasta? Cognac? This feels more like looking for a reason to complain, believe me there actual problems by the truckload, but this is not one of them.
Ya that’s steep! Bought 120grams of Bacon company’s basturma yesterday, didn’t realize it was 2300 drams ($6 USD) for a few slices till after I paid and left the store. It wasn’t even good.
There’s a diaspora Armenian butcher who has amazing basturma, which costs about 12,000 for a kilo (if I’m not mistaken). He’s got the non-stinky ones too.

There’s a market for it. We have a group of people who “accidentally” got rich during the 90s and 2000s and haven’t obtained culture for money yet.
These are the people who pay for $70 bastutma, $1,000 Giraffe steak, $2,000 grilled alligator, $10,000 LV handbag, etc.
Again, why all the outrage? It’s one premium product, the rest sell at 1/3 or even 1/4 of that, why does it bother you that it exists? Are you also so outraged at every other premium cured meat out there? Because some cost 10 times that.
I also had a shock when I saw 10 eggs for ֏2700 and I was, who pays that for eggs, but it’s been a couple of years and they are still on the market, so apparently someone does.
I wouldn’t buy any of those premium options, but unlike you their existence doesn’t offend me, the question is why it offends you?
I know people paying 90k for a bottle of Jack Daniels (regular one) and a fruit plate for 20k at a bar and leaving 50k tips….
Where is the Armenian store in Watertown? I’ve been dying for some basturma since my dad passed away. That’s worth the drive for me
Prices in Yerevan are getting retarded.
