The Office for Kosovo and Metohija has reminded the public that on this day in 1999, in the municipality of Lipljan, 14 Serbian harvesters from the village of Staro Gracko were killed, the youngest of whom, Novica Janićijević, was only 17 years old.

“They were brutally executed at close range with automatic gunfire, and although it is clear that the perpetrators of this horrific crime were members of the then still un-disbanded terrorist KLA, none of the killers have been brought to justice. The crime was committed after the arrival of international forces in Kosovo and Metohija, and the murder of innocent Serbian farmers — whose only ‘crime’ was being Serbian — happened under their mandate, exposing both their unwillingness and inability to protect Serbs and to identify and punish the perpetrators,” the statement said.

The Office stated that international forces still turn a blind eye and silently observe the persecution of those who have condemned and exposed the crimes of the terrorist KLA and dared to seek justice for innocent Serbian victims.

In the meantime, the investigation into the “bloody harvest” has been closed due to an alleged lack of evidence, even though it is inconceivable that a crime requiring such thorough planning and the involvement of at least several perpetrators could leave no trace pointing to those responsible, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concluded.
