200,000 signed up to a new party’s _mailing list_.
FTFY Mr. Corbyn.

And the crowd goes mild…. Because it’s not even a new party they’re signing up for but an email mailing list.
Oooh look all the usual r/unitedkingdom commenters are here already. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone’s got one and they all stink. (Some more than others)

Yay. A weird party taking a chunk out of the Greens and the Labour party, splitting the left of UK politics still further and making it more likely that we get a reform gov.

Until its registered with the Electoral Commission its not a party. And for that it will need a name

I cringe for all these people who are here to slander yet still claim to be liberals whilst supporting labour in its current form.

Christ, there’s some intense levels of cope in these comments. People pivoting from insisting that no one cares about this new party, to now saying that *200,000 people* signing up for their initial consultations within one day are apparently meaningless.
We’ve got 4 major parties in this country who support the economic status quo, and all of them are happy to scapegoat minority groups to deflect criticisms away from that economic status quo. It’ll be nice to have at least one party who challenges this, even if all the centrist dads are unhappy that everyone isn’t forced to support *their* party.

I mean Labour had 600k members under his leadership. Didn’t do much in the end.

I give twelve months before starmer finds a way to ban the party

This is the response to a continuously ambiguous labour. Blair and Starmer have heavily blurred what the party’s values are – people should know what they’re getting when they vote. I don’t think anyone voted for labour thinking ‘thank god we have another Tory party.’

Even with the tools he had, when leading a big party, to topple the Tories he failed miserably even when the Tories were in full stride of their incompetency era. All this will achieve is to further split the left’s vote.

Really is a shame Labour stopped releasing their membership numbers when it became clear there was a continuous downward trend after Starmer became leader. Would love to be able to see how quickly they get eclipsed by this new party lol

If it were anyone other than Corbyn id hope they geniunely succeed.
