Dismantelling European Commision is not some fringe far-right idea, it is quite popular among people that supports more democracy and transparency in EU. Many leftist are quite open in their hatered of this instiution, and I don’t think that they are wrong.
By removing European Commision those right wingers could make EU better and more united in the long run, which is something that they don’t want.
Why US think is in their competence to decide about the European Union Commission’s powers?

Yeah, nah, trying to paint dismantling the power of a specifically highly undemocratic part of the EU as somehow a bad thing isn’t going to work out.
and they are still gaining popularity. In my younger days, I thought europe was full of highly educated and conscious people who would never fall into the pitfalls into which my country has fallen. the last decade has been so disillusioning. It’s staggering to see all it took was a couple of years of economic stagnation for the whole continent to slip into the far right cesspit.
