I never realized there were such large differences, especially between countries/regions that are otherwise somewhat similar (e.g. France vs Germany, Austria vs Switserland.) Also what is up with northern Spain and Portugal?

In Poland there is a lobby that pushes for medical school spots limits to “retain high quality”. Also a lot of doctors studies here for free, and leave abroad for better pay.
