For context, there’s an area in Iceland’s waters that is theorised to have 20-70 million cubic meters of oil. There have been talks for years to start searching for oil there.
For more precise data, 19.6% really support searching for oil, 26.8% generally support it, 24.7% are neutral, 12.4% are generally against it, and 16.5% are really against it.

Iceland have a lot of oil?
It would be a good source of money for them, balancing the foreign imports dependency and create commercial partnerships.
They have a lot of geothermal so they can sell the most part of it too.
Not to mention that Iceland can become a hub for Europe-Canada for exchanging oil, gas, goods, etc.

If they put the earnings into a government fund to give the citizens a dividend and add some funds to social services and education. Sure!
