Government parties pumping money towards landlords rather than doing anything to alleviate supply? The increase will be eaten by higher rents if the supply doesn’t increase. This has been an issue since Kenny was in power, there are two or three extremely obvious solutions which the government parties won’t engage in.
Instead we see tax breaks and payments from the public purse that go into the same group of pockets without the supports and training being put in place despite this being an issue for over a decade.
The lack of action shows that this entire scenario is a choice by various Taoisigh/governments since at least 2013 but imo 2009.

Everything they do is supplying more money on the demand side. Pitting renters against other renter’s with more money available. Suppliers/landlords just pocket the difference.
Or more simply put funneling more public/tax payer money to private entities.
