The entire civil service with Forsa should just strike until you pass the OTB ya cunt. National day of protest? Consisting of what?

    2. wascallywabbit666 on

We all feel the same way about Palestine. However, we’re deluding ourselves if we think that a protest in Ireland will have any effect on the conflict. Israel already sees us as enemies, they’ll ignore anything we say

    3. Harris is just doing this to make political capital for when he leaves office.

    4. sudo_apt-get_destroy on

Can you see Simon there, marching with a load of people who want the OTB to be signed into law. And he wants a big meet up, sing a few songs and back to work Monday morning, no mention of anything real.

It may not be much, and it may be far too late, but a national day of protest would at least be something. As a country whose culture has been shaped by the effects of man made famine we really need to start taking more action.

I don’t like the try to make it happen. Let’s just make it happen along with an occupied territories bill.

EDIT what kind of people are down voting this comment. Would people prefer we just did nothing to say starving innocent children needs ti be stopped?

      “Try”

Why don’t you simply sanction Israel?

Or is it words are easier than a hit to the pocket eh?

    7. RickyBayka on

They’re all panicking now, quick need to do something guys

He could have passed the OTB, Ended the dual use and military trade, sanctioned airlines transporting weapons/parts through our airspace, ended the Central bank Facilitating Israeli war bonds, have made sure irish tax money wasn’t litteraly invested in the fucking war bonds, had fine gael MEP’s vote against von der Lyon and so much more. But no, ”he will try to make a national day of protest over gaza happen”. Blueshirt cunt

    9. quantum0058d on

Great, hopefully all these protests will turn the dial enough to stop Israel starving people to death.

Does he not realise the protests are against him???

    11. standarsh1965 on

Anyone that thinks that little worm cares about Palestine needs to not breed. The fact he’s still a government official is a disgrace to the country

    12. ConversationHuge3908 on

Is he going to march on the Israeli or US embassy? Somehow I doubt it.

    13. snazzydesign on

How about we a day of protesting to fix our fucking housing situation

    14. powerhungrymouse on

If that doesn’t change Netanyahu’s stance nothing will.

    15. ExampleNo2489 on

I’m I the only one to think the environment, our own collapsing social contract and domestic issues are always shrugged off by our government instead of grand standing over Gaza (they haven’t even cut off trade with israel)

This is just them riding public anger for a quick domestic win on a foreign policy issue, when the environmental and social ones they have completely abandoned us on

I’m too cynical to buy this crap

    16. cianpatrickd on

Why not arrange a national day of protest over the housing crisis that is tearing the fabric of our society?

    17. DavidOC93 on

Ridiculous 🙄 how about dealing with the issues we have here for a change

    18. tallpaul89 on

If he could do some regular work that would be great too.

    19. Brave-Trouble-9171 on

I love Simon Harris’s passion for the genocide in Gaza. I whole heartedly agree with him. It’s an easy win really. Simon knows the majority of the country backs Palestine. He can give great sound bites and has to do little real work.

When it comes to issues facing the Irish tax payers he has zero passion and has shown a real contempt for the Irish people. They forget it’s us that pay for these gobshites. They play world leaders with our cash yet they couldn’t gove a rats ass about us.

What was the first thing they did in power… cut the energy tax credit and increased their salaries….

A government-endorsed protest? Who do you think people are protesting towards?!

    21. Bar50cal on

      Good ole r/Ireland,

This is a good thing but people still complain.

    22. Who does he think we’re protesting to?

We want the Irish government to take action!
