Edit 2: To be fair, you have discount shops like Lidl in Lithuania, too.

It was explained to me that there is a lot of competition between supermarkets here, REWE, LIDL, ALDI, Penny, Netto, Norma, Edeka and many more are usually just a few minutes away from each other. I live in walking distance to Four different Supermarkets.

Leinöl seems somewhat of a nieche product. What about products that are more widely used, like butter?

In Latvia the prices are also high.

The situation is very similar in Croatia, where I am from. I compare the same products, even from the same stores (DM, Lidl) and the products in Croatia (that I know of, but probably more) are up to 70 % more expensive. It’s ridiculous and people should revolt, like I honestly don’t know how people survive.

Even more wild? The current Lithuanian prices aren’t far off from where the German ones were about a year or two before the pandemic 😅
Jet germans keep crying about high grocery costs when they have some of the lowest in the eu
I would compare Barbora with something like Rewe (and non-discount prices).
Edit: z.B. Honigmelone 1 Stück – 2,99 € [https://shop.rewe.de/p/honigmelone-1-stueck/45783](https://shop.rewe.de/p/honigmelone-1-stueck/45783)
