They’re going to try and ban fairs on account of one freak accident aren’t they?
I’m just going to take that for granted…
3/4 of her scalp has been ripped off. Holy shit.
Read “degloving injury” yesterday and shouldn’t have Googled.
Poor girl.
Seems to either be this ride:

Other there is another ride in the UK with an indentical paint scheme.
You can see it at 40:14 in this vid:

Hair caught in moving machinery. Not the kind of thing that should possible on a public facing ride but sometimes things break. HSE report will be interesting to see particularly since these kind of walkthrough funhouse rides aren’t particularly uncommon.
I never trust fairground / funfair rides. Those things look like poorly run, poorly assembled death traps, with little to no oversight.
‘Life-changing’ is just a modern way of saying FUBAR.
As nasty as an avulsion is, I hope the poor woman’s brain and spine haven’t been damaged. “Potentially life-changing injuries to her head” conjures up thoughts of a snapped neck or a bashed in skull. I hope this isn’t the case.
UK Funfairs are not well regulated in terms of monitoring, and have a long history of keeping dangerous, life threatening, unsafe rides in use (they swap them about more than catholic priests).
[BBC literally did a Panorama expose on the state of the industry only a month ago and it was horrifying](https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002ds6p/panorama-funfairs-how-safe-are-they).
