All of this at least pays VAT now.
For a lot of the goods, there wouldn’t be any duties to pay and even if there were then it’s often only a couple of percent.
If we charge duties on import, we will be back to the old days of paying 50p tax and £20 handling fees for anything we import personally.
The only people this benefits are middle men who import in bulk and then sell on but this is more environmentally damaging as overstocks are often sent to landfill.
Another way of saying it is “without you paying any tariffs” because it will be passed on to the consumer
