>**Arsons in Poland. ABW: Colombian National Acted on Behalf of Russian Intelligence**
>Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) has determined that a 27-year-old Colombian man was behind two arson attacks that took place in Poland in 2024.
>**Arsons in Poland – Charges Filed Against the Colombian Citizen**
>”Officers of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) have identified a 27-year-old Colombian citizen as being responsible for two arsons that occurred in Poland in 2024. He was acting on behalf of Russian intelligence services,” said Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the coordinator of special services. The incidents in question took place in May in Warsaw and Radom. “In both cases, construction storage facilities were set on fire. Thanks to the swift response of firefighters, the blazes were quickly extinguished. The Colombian national has been charged with committing a terrorist act. He faces a sentence ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment,” Dobrzyński stated on Tuesday morning.
>Dobrzyński added that the investigation is being conducted by the ABW branch in Radom under the supervision of the Lublin regional unit of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
>**ABW: Arsons Ordered, Supervised, and Funded by Russia**
>In a statement released by the Internal Security Agency, it was noted that “these actions were ordered, supervised, and funded by an individual connected to Russian special services.” “The 27-year-old received detailed instructions from his handler concerning the target of the attack and the method of execution, including how to make an incendiary device (commonly known as a Molotov cocktail) and which means of transportation to use,” the statement reads.
>The agency assessed that similar arson cases have occurred across Central and Eastern Europe. According to their findings, Russian intelligence services are using the Telegram messenger app. “They have been systematically recruiting, on a large scale, individuals of Latin American origin with military experience to conduct reconnaissance of designated locations, set fire to selected targets, and document the resulting damage. The photos and videos were subsequently used by Russian-language media for disinformation and propaganda purposes,” the statement said.
>Additionally, ABW officers concluded that citizens of South American countries who travel to Europe and accept arson assignments do so “purely for easy and quick financial gain.”
