La CNN non ha chiarito che in realtà non portiamo il fiume al lavoro. Questo è folle che una stupida didascalia di social media falsi abbia creato questo casino. Per favore dimmi che non sono l’unico che è arrabbiato per questo terribile giornalismo.

Uhmmm I did commute by river to be honest
Have you ever been to Bern? It’s not that common, but people do it. This is not fake news…
There is a lot of fake news about Switzerland from social media and newspapers outside of Switzerland.
When I was living abroad, I remember reading a news article from a Spanish newspaper saying that “a country in Europe is looking for Spanish workers to work as waiters, and the minimum wage is 6k euros a month”.
Lots of people would go to Switzerland without jobs, burn through their life savings and then return home empty handed.
I also remember people asking me if it was true that they could easily get a job as a kitchen helper in a restaurant and earn 8k a month, because many “influencers” in Instagram would say so.
It’s not wrong though. People in Basel actually use the river to commute. I worked with quite a few people who floated down the river in the morning to get to work. Did it myself every now and then; to get back to work after lunch.
Why fake news? There are absolutely people who do this
Chocolate, watches, cheese, cows, mountains… we proudly add these to the list. If someone outside Switzerland asks whether you commute by floating down a river, say yes!
I live in Geneva, in Bern they commute mostly from work to home by river. Is it common? In the summer on a weekday you can see at least 20-30 people an hour commuting home by river. Its relatively common. Winter timer obviously not.
And yes the rivers and lakes are that clean you swim in them all the time.

I totally did this in Basel, up until my employer had to move across Town do to renovations. I’m going to do it again as soon as those are done.
It’s more a “end of the day, I need to go down river lets hope in” kind of commute than a daily normal path. But it definitely happens.
