Will this appease the ranks having one of their own the boss again? Just hope the Garda don’t slip back into to many bad habbits

He’s (hopefully) not a British asset so probably an improvement.

    3. If he’s not an ex-RUC man he should have a good chance of success….

I was worried it would be Shawna Coxon, who was previously deputy chief in the Toronto police force. The Irish Times said the following when she was appointed to the Garda: ‘She has been very vocal and visible for years promoting LGBTQ+ rights and more recently speaking out to remember people who have lost their lives following transphobia.’ I think we have enough institutional progressivism as it is.

I think it should’ve gone to another outsider.

You can’t undo decades of cultural rot in the term of one Commissioner.

For all his many qualifications, Kelly spent 30 years working in that same culture that has caused multiple scandals and that same culture that tried to ruin the lives of people who spoke out against it.

Great , day one 48hrs of questioning of Drew Harris and his role and indepth knowledge of collusion between the RUC and loyalist paramilitary death squads that tortured and murdered irish people in “northern Ireland “

The man’s eyes hold a darkness. I don’t trust he will be a good fit.

How did they ever solve that problem with the pension and tax that was dissuading senior Gardaí from applying?
Is Kelly just taking the hit or have they changed something?

Seriously qualified. All he needs is the winklepickers for kicking the scrotes in the hoop.

Much like O’Callaghan seems to be doing as Minister of Justice, let’s hope this guy can at least surpass the bar buried several feet deep in the ground by his utterly feckless predecessor.

Very Garda head on him indeed. Can they resume the penalty point squashing and friendly corruption now Drew is gone?
