“Boomers” needs to be added to this sentence. I was a child when some of this happened. Everyone knew it would be a disaster. No one was fooled for a second that it would lead to better services or cheaper prices. The Boomers wanted to make a fortune from necessities like council houses (which they were basically given) and water and electricity and on and on. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Spare meters can be bought dirt cheap and you’ll easily save 1000s over a couple years. Tutorials online on how to swap your meter and safely test your gas, water meter is even easier.
