What's the deal with these frozen strawberries from China at the store?

There have been signs in grocery stores about a shortage of Finnish frozen berries due to last year’s poor harvest season.
These signs are only in Finnish at least in Helsinki, so if you don’t understand any Finnish (even after 15 years), it’s understandable that you may have missed the information.
I also have never seen chinese strawberries.
People please DO NOT BUY THEM. Let them rot on shelves so that they realise that chinese strawberries dont sell.
Chinese strawberries because others are no longer well available. The supply is quite limited, and people still want strawberries.
Why would *anyone* buy frozen strawberries, when fresh strawberries are readily available?
China has about 7 times more surface area than Poland, Hungary, Spain and Morocco combined. And about 10x more population. It’s not surprising that they’re a player in pretty much every product / produce category
finnish strawberry season is short. do not waste it eating frozen strawberries. you got the whole winter for that.
I’m glad that I can buy strawberries frozen, we’re they from Poland, Spain, China or wherever… Fresh strawberries should in my opinion be available all through the year from other countries too as an alternative to expensive Finnish ones. I’ve always been pretty pleased with fresh ones from The Netherlands, when they are available. I’m not willing to pay for Finnish ones (even though admittedly they taste much better). I’ve lived in many different countries so am pretty used to eating produce from all over the world.
What’s wrong with chinese strawberries, exactly?
It’s economics. Finnish strawberries command a premium, and the farmers would rather sell them internationally where they would fetch a higher price. Chinese strawberries are cheaper, so they’re imported to where there’s a market for the cheaper product.
I mean it doesn’t hugely matter if the strawberry’s are from china or Poland I only buy Finnish ones as I don’t want to boil them
There is fresh ones available. Why buy frozen ones?
Most Finns byu shitloads of Finnish strawberries and freeze them at home. Or pick blueberries from the forest and do the same.
Hard pass. I’ll not buy this.
Missed the garlic, huh?
