      >Rachel McElhinney was only three years of age when the accident happened

      >Rachel McElhinney, now aged 16 years

      Nice speedy resolution, so.

Wait a moment, a child enters the property of a neighbour without warning while loud and potentially dangerous machinery is operated. What were the parents doing to keep their child safe?

Where does this leave the lawnmowers of the land? Not to mention hedge cutters.

I have an electric flymo and my kids do a runner if it even looks like im pulling it out

    4. Feels like the article is missing some important details…

Was the person operating the lawnmower looking after the kid at the time?
If not, why is the person who was looking after the kid not at fault?
Is that one person supposed to pay 415k now?

Was this a play date type situation or did the child wander into a neighbours garden? A lot of questions…

No wonder insurance is one of the biggest struggles for people to afford in this country. We should nationalise public health insurance and have claims investigated properly, and payouts reduced. Shit happens, money won’t fix her toes anyway

Most posting here are banging on about “Oh, where were the parents!?!”

How the fuck do you run over a 3 year old, causing significant injury that they deglove 2 toes? This isn’t just the tip of your nail, that’s from where it meets your foot gone.

Cop yourselves on. You can’t just mangle a child, just because they got away from their guardian.

Absolutely horrible for the person operating the lawnmower. It doesn’t read to be their fault. People need to look after children

12 years to get to court…ridiculous.

Does house insurance even cover this?

Parents should take responsibility for their kids any insurance money they get is dirty money

Happend to a guy in primary school. Basically ran around a corner as his father was moving the mower from back garden to front. They re attached them but you know it’s never the same. It’s not to bad for a guy we can get by with runners or crocks if needed but girls love their heals. Hopefully the money sets her up with a house.
