    2. Metal-Lifer on

so he’s made a career from trashing the left now will work for them?

    3. PolarMaritime on

This is grim. Expect further bashing of trans people and other minorities.

      >In December 2014, Dinsmore was named sexist of the year by End Violence Against Women.

I joked in another thread, Trump has been here five minutes and Starmer is already hiring people famous for getting barely legal girls to strip off so dirty old men could get in their wank (Page 3).

    5. Coupaholic_ on

Well that whole ‘safety bill critics are child predators’ line makes a lot more sense now.

    6. Yep, done with Labour, talk about splitting the vote all you like, but not going to be voting for this absolute shower of shit again.

I guess Labour don’t want anyone in Liverpool to vote for them anymore then either.

    7. RoosterBoosted on

Incredibly bad look. This Labour Party need a better Comms and Optics strategy, they’re hopeless.
It’s like they WANT their left base to vote green/Lib Dem!

    8. Kind_Dream_610 on

And this appointment highlights how we end up with bullshit laws that people don’t understand and that actually make things worse. Welcome to the UK version of Trump and Fox News appointees.

Starmer and McSweeney’s New New Labour is purely there to cover up the smell from the dead and rotting neoliberal consensus, and continue to serve the interests of the wealthy and powerful who have benefited from it for so long.

They are almost certainly doing things like this at the behest of wealthy donors and media barons whose support they feel they can’t do without, because surely even they aren’t so stupid that they thinks this looks good.

What they don’t realise (or, at least, what Starmer doesn’t realise, because he seems to have turned out to be deeply shit at actual politics) is that those wealthy teats they suckle at are almost certainly not too bothered about giving Labour marching orders that will ultimately tank its popularity and destroy it at the next election, because they’re already salivating at the prospect of jumping to Reform and their “Truss-on-steroids” economics as soon as they can.

      New petition idea..

“Require Sun purchasers to present ID due to page 3, to protect children”.

    11. 64gbBumFunCannon on

Labour could have literally picked a homeless person up off the street and it would have been a better choice.

How on earth are they just so bad? I mean, they haven’t reached tory levels of bad yet, but they seem to have taken it as a challenge as opposed to a warning.

    12. bomboclawt75 on

This, the crackdown on peaceful protesters, siding with the corporations and removing our rights, Labour seem to be speed running their way to being voted out at the next election, in a landslide.

    13. merryman1 on

Seems like an absolute prick this guy. Convicted of publicly revealing personal details of sexual assault victims as well.

That said… … … I can understand that these sorts of vile people peddling nonsense on the right have clearly been very effective so… I can see the sense a little? We’ll see.

    14. Intergalatic_Baker on

This from the paper that hacked telephones, lied and is seen as for the people…

    15. Manchild1189 on

Remember how angry Labour voters were during the campaign when it was pointed out (repeatedly) that Starmer is a Tory? That went well.

    16. Scingles on

Labours representatives in Liverpool sweating all of a sudden

    17. Manaboutadog99 on

Well thats Liverpool not voting Labour in the next election then, what an absolute moron.

    18. At this point it feels like a fucking psy-op to make Labour look as unlikeable as the tories…

    19. Hacked Off are not fans of his – [https://www.hackedoff.org/blog-posts/hacked-off-condemns-appointment-of-david-dinsmore-to-senior-government-role](https://www.hackedoff.org/blog-posts/hacked-off-condemns-appointment-of-david-dinsmore-to-senior-government-role)

David Dinsmore has held senior editorial and executive roles at *The Sun* and its parent company News UK for decades. His tenure includes a **criminal conviction** for coverage which could have resulted in a breach of the anonymity of a sexual offence victim, a vehement defence of Page 3 objectification, and ongoing denial of wrongdoing in relation to *The Sun*’s involvement in illegal activity– later admitted to in claims brought by Prince Harry and Lord Watson.

**He is not just unfit for public office – his appointment actively damages public trust.**

    20. SpencersCJ on

Labour hiring from the people who have done everything to dismantle the party for the last god knows how many years. Truly they are just Tory red.

    21. karl_man2 on

Which section of our core voter base shall we alienate today? How about Scousers?

      – Labour HQ probably

    22. Cheddarthefurrypig on

Worked and was editor for the Sun (with all that entails, particularly during hacking scandals), got the title of the Sexist of the Year, worked under Rebekah Brooks, convicted of publishing an insufficiently pixelated picture of a sex abuse victim, undermined Leveson, published a host of Katie Hopkins articles including some calling asylum seekers cockroaches.

What amazing working class, left-leaning, progressive credentials for Starmer to add to his team.

    23. Ninevehenian on

Tolerating tabloids is a recipe for failure. They are only a reduction of democracy.

    24. Agitated-Afternoon-2 on

Labour hiring from the sun is absolutely a new low.

    25. ThunderChild247 on

In other words “Pleeeeeease say nice things about us in the Sun, begs Labour”

    26. cheeseley6 on

Better inside the tent pissing out I suppose! 🤦‍♂️

    27. LauraPhilps7654 on

Are people still pretending this isn’t a right-wing party?

    28. pinwroot on

Starmer has really dropped all attempts to even *seem* like the Labour Party.

Labour hiring the former Sun editor is such good satire that isn’t even satire.

    29. greenpowerman99 on

He can’t do a worse job thanLabour’s current communications team…

    30. NegativeCreeq on

Aftwr so many years it feels like where coming towards the end of the Conservatives and Labour as major parties.

    31. GhostRiders on

I have never seen a Government actively trying to speed run losing the next GE.

Not only losing, but they appear to be wanting to set some kind of history record of getting utterly anhilated because that is exactly what is going to happen.

    32. fujoshimoder on

Labour really are intent on pissing off every aspect of their historic voter base, eh?

    33. RockinOneThreeTwo on

That’ll push Liverpool constituencies more towards Reform then

    34. baguetteonmars on

I know a lot of left minded folks will despair at this but a part of me feels quite positive. The thing that’s pissed me off most is the way this gov have struggled to communicate their policy and get people on board with their mission, resorting to reversing very fair and reasonable policy just because of backlash. Ok no doubt this guy is right wing, but he’s also an expert at communicating to simple people, and that’s exactly what his job is. He’s not shaping policy.

    35. AidyCakes on

Well they’ve lost the vote of all Liverpool with that choice

    36. mrkingkoala on

Labour have now alienated Liverpool and all 16-17 year olds not to mention massive amount of the UK due to that Internet bill.

Cut benefits. Raised taxes. Refused to invest. Soft of Thames Water, they are done.

    37. UberGoat28 on

And that’s the end of Liverpool being a Labour stronghold

    38. benrinnes on

So the so-called “New Labour” of Blair is now the “New Conservatives” of Starmer.

It just seems as if “Labour” is a misnomer.

    39. orangecloud_0 on

The S*n, the shit that was banned in Liverpool for incorrectly reporting on things? Oouff
