Says the guy who sits on a golden toilet in one of many palaces.

Oh that is unfair I am sure plenty of Russian soldiers have died in vain.

In a certain dark way, Putin may very well turn out to be right [much to the silent but smug satisfaction of his more than 140 million compatriots](https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/content-series/russia-tomorrow/reluctant-consensus-war-and-russias-public-opinion/) even if the latter wave their little hands, stomp their unwashed feet, and flap their gums to insist that they’re “Anti-war™”, “Apolitical™” or “Anti-Putin™”.

If the Russians can fulfill their centuries-old *jihad* on the Ukrainians such that Ukraine ends up as a permanent rump state and/or is indefinitely weakened because of depopulation (i.e. vast majority of the 7 million refugees never come back) and the lengthy and costly work on reconstruction and de-mining, then indeed *no Russian will have died in vain* when [the Russians’ goal here has been to exterminate the Ukrainians](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russification_of_Ukraine#Russian_Empire) no matter how long that will take.

In this way, it’s a sinister but *classically* Russian take on the long-derided slogan of “For As Long As It Takes™”.

What about the two guys who got droned while one was blowing the other? They died for a good cause huh?

I’ve personally seen thousands of Russian soldiers die in vain from the comfort of my own couch. Every single one died needlessly. Every fucking single one.
