I had the same thing happen to me, and yes I was able to take a train hours beforehand.
(Confirmed by DB desk and got asked for ticket)

Just for my understanding (I’m in app development): how should they make this even more clear?

I mean DB ensures you twice here that “you are fine” and says literally that you can take any train. How much more precise/clear should this be?

Every 1min Google search will confirm this to you as well, this scenario happens millions of times every week in Germany…

You can use literally any train in the day, even one at 00:01 even though your original time was 21:00.
