Why not cut the middle man at this point? why waste money on that guy when you can just appoint ChatGPT

politicians uses tools , would you rather they listen to lobbists ?

    3. CLKguy1991 on

I would rather people used all tools and information at their disposal to do their job. But I guess just shows how behind general public still is.

Like ChatGPT is a tool. I use it in my job does it mean I am not doing my job? No. The same as I use Google to help me in my job. It doesn’t replace the work I do, it helps me.

If he was just doing whatever it said that is another story, however, if he’s asking it questions and using it’s output to help him, what’s the issue?

    5. Isn’t this kind of a massive overreaction? He basically said he uses ChatGPT to get second opinions. We don’t know which matters he asked for a second opinion on, nor the extent to which he used the information. If you trust him to have the judgment to manage the country, you should also be able to trust him to verify the information and reflect critically upon it. LLMs nowadays provide source link to pretty much anything you ask it for, so you can basically use it as a search-engine alternative. This seems to me more of an “AI bad” reaction, which of course merits discussion, but that’s another problem altogether.

If someone uses Google, or looks in a book, or ask someone… these people would make the same argument?

ChatGPT is a just a tool… It’s no issue using it, as long as you also put your own brain to work.

    7. _Avocado_public_hair on

ChatGPT is just a tool. If no confidential information was shared, then what’s the problem?

    8. Unreasonable blind opposition to AI is going to be extremely damaging to reasonable attempts at regulation that still acknowledge it as a useful tool.

    9. For decades I’ve watched the rich and powerful call everyone “lazy” if they’re not earning much money.

Now we have the political classes who can’t be bothered to do their jobs and just ask AI about it – something which would get anyone else sacked. Hell, a UK MP was watching porn in Parliament, another was playing games on their phone while they were supposed to be listening. Nothing much happened about either.

Sorry, but at some point, this whole thing is going to come to a head worldwide and it’s not going to be a good time to be an aristocrat, politician or billionaire.

The douchebag AI bros and astroturfing bots out in full force in this thread.

    11. mrdarknezz1 on

This is not really a massive issue here, the headline is unwarranted

    12. Other_Class1906 on

why criticise a politician for actually wanting to know something..? There are a lot of things you can still criticise him for.. like if he spilled the beans of state secrets, or someone hot hold of his chat history. but in a place where lobbyists will terrorise you on every corner using a different likely somewhat unbiased (or reflecting your own biases) helper tool is a good thing. He should of course still have aides to confirm and test hypotheses. but the mere fact he used it is not a bad thing. Unless he is writing a thesis and claims that he wrote it by himself…

    13. Raffinesse on

they probably all use some sort of ai chat bot to bounce their ideas off of. he’s just the first to openly admit it.

    14. Sooo did people vote for the armada of advisors every politician employs? Do they actually believe prime ministers are magical 300IQ geniuses that are experts in every field from economics to healthcare, foreign relations, arts, law and climate science?

People tend to forget that with every vote they don’t just elect a couple figureheads that explain the party’s stance on topics but THOUSANDS of politicians and advisors they have never heard of and never will.

This guy is the perfect minister, instead of having a guy who doesn’t know how to use Tech and who is surrounded by party soldiers he does his own research and in result he gets villified.

Europe is a lost cause, overtaken by Anti-Technology and Anti-Corporation nutjobs.

He might also just have said it to prove that he is “in with the times”. I doubt he asked it to make the defense budget.

Well, Ulf has never been the brightest bulb in the group, so I can’t say that I’m suprised….

    20. retrospectYT on

Why are people so mad? Anyone with half a brain realizes that getting more feedback before making decisions is always a good thing? Chatgpt can be completely wrong at times, but so can any advisor, any book, any website, literally anything can be wrong you just have to have some basic critical thinking ability.

    21. Luddites jump up and down about new tech, news at 11.

I’d be more surprised if he wasn’t using AI.

This guy is a threat to democracy he needs to be removed asap especially since the dumbass opened his mouth i now GUARANTEE YOU the us gov is going to be typing out gtp replies.

Sweet fucking jesus, how many AI incels do we have in this group?

I mean, it’s not that you like it. It’s just… the way you say it. Like a guy walking in on his wife cheating on him with his best friend and just… cheering. Just cheering for that.

Jesus, do you have zero self-respect? All of your shit sounds like when MAGA have a mild criticism of Trump and start their comment with “I voted for Trump 3 times and keep a photo of him on my nightstand, but…”

      It’s just so fucking cringeworthy.

EDIT: No, really, look. Put yourself in this situation: you are walking to work one day and you see a man licking another man’s shoes and yelling “Thank you, sir! Thank you!”. Wouldn’t you feel embarrased for that guy? Wouldn’t you cross the street? Cause that’s you. The boot licker. That’s how embarassing you are.

    24. What a surprise to see the most botted sub on this website be incredibly pro-AI.

    25. AgenteEspecialCooper on

The MASSIVE security risk he ran into every time he used ChatGPT for anything remotely related to his job, (which is ruling an entire country, by the way), can’t be overstated.
