North Germany has over capacity. Windfarms are idling. The Focus needs to be on upgrading the grid. But current energy providers are lobbying hard to keep the current status and business model. The current conservative government is pro gas, so this issue is unlikely to be fixed anytime soon.

    2. I wonder if someone would built a NPP under the same circumstances (but onshore)

How could this happen? I remember Germans on this sub downvoting me when I pointed out that wind in Germany would cease to exist without subsidies. Oh well

Maybe we should take the matters in our own hands, just nationalise energy.

It turns out companies do things only if they can leech tax money from it

      Look, German resident here.

You can talk shit all you want about the different aspects of how China does things. But when it comes to the energy transition, they got it right.

They are building 29 nuclear reactors and their R&D and installation of wind and solar leaves everyone biting the dust.

How do they do it and how can we take the best lessons out of it?

      >They are heavily subsidized

Well it’s working, we should do that too.

      >Their CO2 per capita is bad

Adjust it by consumption and let’s see those numbers again.

Climate change is THE struggle to overcome. How do we do it?
