      From the article:

BNR accelerates discourse on the eurozone and announces that Romania will be able to print and mint euro coins by the end of the year

This is the second important message sent by the NBR in 2025 regarding euro accession. The first came at the end of June, through the voice of Deputy Governor Cosmin Marinescu, who stated, during an official event, that “even in the current difficult economic context, I am convinced that Romania’s next major project must be accession to the euro area, as soon as possible.”

Also there is a possibility of starting discussions about Romanian euro coin design soon.

Regarding the future design of the coins, Popa stated that the common face is the same for all countries, and the national face will be established according to ECB recommendations.

“What I can tell you at this point is that we will follow and comply with all the recommendations and requirements of the European Central Bank (ECB) when it comes to choosing the design for the specific side. Unlike euro coins, euro banknotes do not have a national side, indicating where they come from.

The European Central Bank is currently redesigning its euro banknotes, with the aim of making them more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Last month, the ECB even launched a public competition for the design of the future euro banknotes.

I think it is because Bulgaria… we like to think we are superior to them, yet Bulgaria joins Eurozone much before us.

We have 0 chance to join eurozone as our politicians are too addicted to printing more money to cover their ineptitude and switching to euro would take away this primordial tool from them.

The governor of our national bank has been the same guy except for the time he was the prime-minister so it’s silly to imagine he would all of a sudden fall in love with the euro after decades of dodging it.
