      The Welsh have way more pride in their language than us.

      The percentage is diluted by other home countries.

      Ireland just has less not fluent immigrants i guess. Welsh people who don’t know English are small enough in amount to not effect this at all

      I mean there are large parts of London or Leeds where people don’t speak English fluently, and you’re unlikely to hear it spoken in markets in those areas. It’s more of an integration thing though, rather than saying a large percentage of local Brits don’t speak English fluently.

      Lots of people who speak English well are not fluent but speak it well enough to be understood including many of my colleagues. Fluency means having perfect English.

      Singapore is the most impressive, though mandarin or Malay would be the language there.

      Well ya id expect that, it’s well publicized the Irish language is in decline. Especially on r/Ireland it’s a almost a daily post. So ah ya right ok 👍.

    11. 2x as many people in India speak English than in the UK. India has surpassed the UK GDP recently also.

      So, 60% of Pakistan’s population speaks fluent English. That’s interesting.
