I’m a Canadian who’s descended from Latvian refugees during WWII. They thought they were just going to leave for a few months, and then they couldn’t come back until the 90s.
I grew up hearing stories about Latvia, so much so that I almost felt more pride about Latvia than Canada, where I was born.
I’m visiting for the first time and I’ve got to say – I’m not even biased. Riga is just insanely beautiful.
That purely depends on which part of the Rīga you’re looking at. Center, Mežaparks and so on is beautiful.
Now go to Maskavas Street, Pļavnieki or even around Avotu Street and you’ll feel like the dudes from Euro Trip coming to Bratislava 😅
