Isn’t as catchy a headline is it. He’s free! Free! Until his sentencing…

Until he’s actually sentenced.
The whole point of a deferred sentence is to give the defendant time to prove to the court they’re able to stop offending. That then gives probation/court the option to give them a community order or suspend their custodial sentence.
