That doesn’t mean that someone will get away with murder:

      > Those serving life sentences, such as terrorists and murderers, are exempt and will serve their full prison sentence in the UK before being considered for deportation.

    2. The Tories came up with this policy to fend off the UKIP/Reform crowd and when it didnt considerably and visibly reduce immigration it backfired on them giving those same groups a large leg up in the process.

Farage probably sees this as a huge net positive for Reform, something he can really highlight and focus on if it fails again which it probably will.

I knew a prison official who was shocked when an IPP sentenced foreign national was released on tariff. The sentence the prisoner received was a 5 year IPP, which at the time, meant that the prisoner would need to undergo severe psychological rehabilitation and would likely not be released for at least 10, perhaps 15 years, if they behaved themselves and showed real progress. The minimum tariff of 5 years was just a legal thing but meant nothing.

However, the prison system wanted to deport foreign prisoners quickly so on the day of his 5-year tariff, without any rehabilitation work, this quite dangerous person was put on an aeroplane and released into the country he came from. However, that country didn’t have any crimes for him, so he was released from the airport. Instead of serving 10 or 15 years, for serious offences, that prisoner skated through on 5-year sentence walked free: no probation, no license, no police scrutiny, no local criminal record. Apparently, he immediately started working in a nearby country and even sent letters to his former cellmates in UK prisons laughing about how he cheated the UK criminal justice system.

How does the victim(s) of this guy’s crimes feel about him getting away with serious offences with such a minimum sentence? I know the criminal justice professional who told me about this was shocked. And it’s not an isolated incident.

If you commit a crime the UK will definitely deport you…unless you appeal, and then appeal against the ruling of the first appeal, and then appeal against the appeal that was an appeal of your 32nd appeal when you appealed against the appeal….and at the end of which you’ve been in the country for 50 years exhausting all your appeals, so you and the 425 relatives that you brought over to support you during your appeals can stay.

Does anyone EVER get deported from the UK? We have people in this country literally by virtue of the fact that they are serious sex offenders, and thus their life wouldn’t be perfect if sent home to somewhere that takes a dim view of sex offenders.
