Sono un turista e recentemente ho nuotato in un bagno termale (https://maps.app.goo.gl/6htm6yVB9e2NzMbp8) diversi giorni fa. Adesso mi è venuta una brutta febbre ed è peggiorata negli ultimi giorni. Mi sono ricordato che esistono le amebe mangiacervello (Naegleria fowleri) e ho esaminato i sintomi e la maggior parte sembra corrispondere alla febbre comune. Volevo chiedere se ci sono casi di questa ameba che colpisce la popolazione in Albania? Ho cercato online e non sono riuscito a trovare molto, quindi spero che andrà tutto bene

      I don’t think there are brain eating ameobia in these baths. The number of people that visit these baths theoughout the year is very high. It would have been a red flagged zone already. It’s just a normal fever!

      I’ve only heard about this a few months ago on social media for some cases in the US. I have never heard on tv about such death cases in Albania before and I’ve been in thermal waters before with friends. All of us are safe in that regard.
      I’d highly recommend going to a proper doctor because the thermal water in Bënjë has long been used as a curative place for different types of health problems(not sure about the science behind) except for relaxing.
      Maybe you might have a different type of infection or just the flu. You never know exactly what causes the fever.
