I wonder if he considers himself some kind of performance artist

>The defendant was bailed pending a trial and left the court building and went back to standing in the road. He was arrested again, charged and remanded into custody ahead of a trial.
Got to admire his dedication to his craft

Why does the UK, why does no major democracy, bother to have a mechanism for repeat offenders?
It’s always ‘Bob has 100 convictions for 10,000 offences’.
Nah, by the second or third it should be ‘Bob was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and will remain in care until he’s treated’.
When you create a billion pound ponzi scheme – that’s a choice, that’s a crime.
When you’ve got dozens of convictions, that’s mental health.

For whatever reason he seems to prefer being in prison than out of it, and has found a non-violent way to achieve it. Being ‘of no fixed abode’ he’s probably quite grateful for the food, shelter and medical care. Maybe he needs better access to social care under supported living but if he persistently stays mute, it’s probably impossible to assess any needs and motives.

It’s very unusual I read he has had an psychiatric examine which didn’t reveal anything because he was silent and probation staff state he has spoken to them (yet he hasn’t spoken to anyone else).
I would want a neurological examination done, least you can rule out something wrong; if all the right brain regions are lighting up and there is no acorn sized mass, then we can safely determine he can infact understand.

What kind of society have we built where disenfranchised mentally unwell people are better supported in prison than in communities?
This guy obviously has problems and the only thing our society can do for him is to lock him up?

Maybe corporal punishment would help? (I jest of course)
