How about **lowering** prices for a change?
Well…sorry, but according to the government the hospitality industry needs the VAT reduction that is currently on the energy bills. So if they can’t cook because they can’t pay for electricity, they can always eat out…../S
Its ok though, cause as we all know, energy bills are the toughest to deal with in the summer. This issue will surely ease up in the winter…
And we haven’t even seen all of the suppliers’ increases yet this year. Flogas has been the first to blink, waiting for the rest to follow suit before switching my tarriff.
Things the government could do:
* Windfall profit tax for energy companies.
* Do things to speed up off-shore wind farms.
* Carrots and sticks to get car parks covered in solar panels.
* Free residential solar systems for folks on winter fuel allowance.
* Some sort of incentive scheme for landlords to install solar.
* District heating systems in new estates.
