As opposed to those acceptable levels of violence that we had before.

      It’s no surprise.

Where I’m from there is people who abuse the NHS every weekend and have no issue with abusing NHS staff.

Harsh to say, and it is generalising a bit.

If someone comes in drunk or on drugs, requiring the use of the NHS, they should be penalised for it.

It shouldn’t be needed, but there should be a competent and consistent police presence.

When nurses are going through hell, there’s nothing better than people standing on doorsteps clapping for them every Thursday at 7pm.

That’s the only solution to this problem.

This is wrong and yes we should have a no tolerance policy to protect staff.

I will say something incredibly controversial. I apologise in advance.

However, I went to a&e once after passing out. I got treated like shit, people (especially doctors) were dismissive and incredibly rude.

One doctor asked “who told you to come here” I explained my sister found me passed out. He asked “what does she do” I told him she was a pharmacist, he said “why are you listening to someone who couldn’t cut it as a doctor”. Incredibly rude ego tripping asshole. Just treated as a time waster.

Passed out again a couple days later, I couldn’t breathe. My mother took me to the doctor’s and insisted I get a chest x ray. She had to insist quite forcefully.

They found spots on my lungs. Real nice to learn after being treated like complete shit.

No one deserves hostility, especially NHS staff. But after seeing how many were just complete assholes, and trust me they were complete assholes. I can totally see someone getting angry. If that were my child, a mother or a loved one? I can totally see why someone would get very angry and frankly in my situation it probably saved my life.

I like to think I’m a fairly compassionate person, but I think there should be a zero tollerance policy to violent behaviour in hospitals.

I don’t care what’s wrong with you, if you’re attempting to harm staff who are trying to help you, you’ve forfeited your right to that help imo.

NHS staff are under no obligation to put themselves in harms way by dealing with violent arseholes. If there are then consequences to the patient from people not being treated, then they should have considered that before being violent.

Large waiting rooms with 100 other irate strangers tend to have a snowball effect.

Hospitals should be redesigned to remove waiting rooms entirely from A&E

Haven’t come up with a solution about where people wait then, but I’m sure many nurses wouldn’t care.

    7. I am all for life time bans for those that think assaulting NHS staff is a good idea.

If you have non of the few mental heath disorders that would qualify or serious learning disabilities then zero tolerance jail and life time ban.
