As much as current US government is bad rn, they’re completely right about speech laws.
Free speech removal and mass surveillance only going to make things much worse. For example ultra right wing parties will get a ton of support. Consequences are easily imaginable. Even without them it’s the path to nothing good – China, North Korea or something worse after sufficient amount of time and degradation.

America, the US, as we’ve known it here in Europe is gone. Not only for the next election cycle but for a generation.
I applaud Ursula Von Der Leyen when she pacified the baby in the tariff’s talks. It was an amusing watch. Likewise, our Finnish president golfing with the man-baby could be considered good diplomacy.
America is gone. Caput. We might get it back in 10 or 20 years, we might not.
Anyone who has lived in the US knows that this present situation is a long time coming, It’s not an anomaly – Trump era is the quintessential AMERICA – perhaps it’s a shock for many in Europe but it was always coming.
How we treat this ‘country’ as Europeans is another matter. We have to manage it.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me state the obvious.
They are working at the highest levels to take away things that matter to us because they don’t want any problems with their profits and their power.
Just saying, let’s do something or they will ruin us.

If republicans speak about free speech they mean unchecked power to spread propaganda for the rich. You cannot have a fair discussion if one side is allowed to bring a big speaker so they can silence everybody else.
