Among them are individuals who have been imprisoned since before 2022, including a man who has been jailed for over 11 years, a primary school teacher who was imprisoned in 2019, and a 27-year-old who was detained at age 18.
Those freed include Mariupol defenders, Navy and Border Guard troops, and 10 officers. Most of those released have health issues or disabilities.
Glad they are back. But my heart breaks at the thought they all have indured. The happy smiling faces are comfortable for us to see but the experience of what they have gone through is tragic
Civilians are never POW’s.
They are hostages.
