But they leapt before they kicked in. Year on year is a more honest comparison – down 25% but even then exports in certain sectors are known for being volatile.
It’s a 25% reduction on the same month last year. The exports had surged based on stockpiling
25% fall on about 27-30% of total exports is still very significant.
We have to stop blaming America for our risky choice to have our economy so reliant on one country we should have been spending tha last 20 years expanding our wxports with other country but we didn’t so now we are fucked because our own government Thu k they are great
“The CSO noted, however, that the value of goods exports for the first six months of 2025 was still up by 41 per cent at €152 billion compared with the same period of last year (€108 billion)”
That doesn’t sound too bad to me
Misleading article as companies have been stockpiling since the first tarrif announcements with Apple famously flying shipments over to beat the original deadline.
What’s been happening since is companies have simply been topping up the stockpiles as warehouse space in the US is at a premium.
Once the tariffs are implemented you’ll start to see the stockpiles drop and production go back to normal as no benefit to further stockpiling unless another tariff hike is made.

This doesnt really surprise me because Ive been exporting my genius to the US for years now but since the tariff announcements Ive decided to stockpile it instead.
