Rum isn’t considered a slur, rum just means Greek. The only difference is it’s more commonly used for Greeks outside of Greece, whilst Yunan is for Greeks from Greece, although both can be interchangeable

never ever do they say Kıbrıslı Rum (Greek Cypriot) or anything that resembles it. They wanna make the Greek speaking Cypriots seem like out of body “things”. Makes it easier to hate.

while it’s true that a gruesome war was happening and the Turkish speaking Cypriots were helpless (rapes and murders happening all over the place) especially when it came to numbers, and Turkey’s guarantor actions were really of help to everyone. it was when they broke the law (the one they’re trying to justify there) it came crashing down and became obvious that they were simply trying to colonize this island.
