    1. Don’t do electrical work if you’re unsure, hire an electrician as required by the law.

      Grey is neutral and yellow is live in the old connector (assuming whoever pulled the wire used the normal convention of the time, but you can’t really be sure without testing). Blue is neutral and brown is live on the lamp.

      The lamp itself will work either way, but the live wire should go to the bottom of the socket for the lightbulb and the neutral to the side to make it less likely that you shock yourself (but you should of course never mess with it while it is live)

      Blue is blue (ground). Plain yellow (NOT yellow/green combination), black or brown is live and is the same thing. Yellow/Green combination newer wiring is safeground wire.

      It’s AC, so doesn’t matter which way round you wire the light fitting.
