It’s a great park. Littered with ruins of buildings and canals from its history as a military site and gunpowder mill.
They have ambitious long term plans to connect it up the Lee Fields, with the City Council already owning some of land west of the current Lee Fields area with a view to expanding that park land. There’s even an idea to link it up towards Iniscarra dam and all the way down to Crosshaven as a Cork Harbour Greenway running between a lot of the parks along that route like Fitzgeralds Park, the Marina etc.
