      Wow incredible.
      Iceland is for sure top.
      I have never felt safer

I am surprised the Nordics are not above us. Sweden feels incredibly safe.

Before anyone loses the head, just be conscious that these indices give wildly different results depending on what metrics they choose. In this case it looks like a lot of the indicators are to do with military and international conflict, in which case it’s completely logical that we’d score highly

Surprised we are so high. Even with the stats the capital has never felt less safe, with all of the scum running the place.

Iceland is no surprise , absolutely lovely country . Its far from sae for your wallet their €14 for a coffee in one spot the last time I was there.

I wonder if under reporting or Gardaí not following up plays into the stats. I’d imagine that a lot of the youth assaults and racial assaults go unreported (based on my observations and assumptions). I’d be happy for someone to show any rebuttal with supporting evidence.

If a crime doesn’t have a pulse number tagged to it then it never happened according to the powers that be.

This is great and hopefully silences a lot of thr knobs who think we’re living in a war zone. But I think it’s also important to highlight another study/report we score highly in and that’s the V-Dem democracy index. Despite our obvious flaws, Ireland ranks highly when it comes to democratic freedoms. We are like 7th or something. Not enough is made of this fact. When most other countries are pivoting right. We still manage to remain broadly liberal and left/centrist in our politics. We don’t have a on meaningful right wing party, we have as much freedom as most. And I think this peace rating very much correlates with our overall democratic freedoms.

Yes it’s flawed but then so is everyone else’s democracy. It’s not a perfect system. But I don’t think we give ourselves enough credit for this. If we fix housing and health we be a damn great place to live. We’re some of the way there. A ways to go but we are getting there.
