> For Women Scotland is claiming Holyrood’s guidance on transgender pupils in schools and the Scottish Prison Service’s policy on the management of transgender people in custody are in “clear breach of the law”.
> FWS is arguing the policies are “inconsistent” with the Supreme Court judgment and has raised an ordinary action to quash them.
> In a statement, the group said: “Nothing has persuaded the government to take action and both policies remain stubbornly in place, to the detriment of vulnerable women and girls, leaving us little choice but to initiate further legal action.”

They will never rest, they will never stop, and trans people won’t be the only victims.

Public is on their side no matter what reddit says. That’s why Starmer won’t touch this issue with a barge pole.
I don’t have a horse in this race as a cisgender man but surely we could solve this toilet debate by making them all gender neutral or just having people who are uncomfortable sharing facilities using the disabled toilets if a gender neutral stall isn’t available.
Editing because some people seem to have a different idea to what a gender neutral toilet is than I do which is a private stall that anyone can enter with a lock. In that scenario if your trans or uncomfortable sharing with trans people you have a private facility.
Existing single sex toilets can still exist, the gender neutral ones would be for people who have strong views on where they do their business.

Because the government and organisations are hesitant to implement the policy changes without new EHRC guidance, even after the law has been clarified.
Single sex spaces are based on birth sex, hopefully there will also be a push for increasing gender neutral facilities so everyone feels safe.

So they are going for two pieces of guidance, not even law, but guidance that are the most inoffensive guidances possible, yet ignoring the women being attacked and denigrated for not being quite feminine enough for anti-trans idiots.
Yeah, they’re really “for women”

The items which the group are now fighting:
> Guidance for single-sex toilets in schools says young people “where possible” should be able to “use the facilities they feel most comfortable with”.
> Within prisons, current guidance allows for a transgender woman to be admitted into the women’s estate if the inmate does not meet the violence against women and girls criteria, and there is no basis “to suppose” they could be an “unacceptable risk of harm” to those also housed there.
I’m all for legal clarity, but these both seem like sensible guidance. I’d be shocked if removing this guidance didn’t lead to trans people getting assaulted. In the case of trans students, I’d be shocked if it didn’t lead to a spike in trans kids withdrawing from school.

Pretty sick that they want trans women housed with men… At this rate they’ll need a new prison for trans women.
It’s all about hurting people they don’t like, it has nothing to do with protecting anyone.

These puritans sure spend a lot of time thinking of other peoples genitalia don’t they.

These people are fucking freaks. They won’t be happy until they’re in schools looking inside the underwear of children before telling them which toilet they can use

The UK supreme court should be ashamed of itself, as well as everyone who said that the ruling “wouldn’t be legally binding” and wasn’t serious about it.
Expect them to go after lesbians and bisexual women next for sharing changing rooms and bathrooms.

A lot of cishet people in this country don’t yet understand that this isn’t about “reasonable concerns” or about “women’s rights” – it’s an eliminationist campaign.
They’ll only stop once trans people have no legal recognition, and no state-sanctioned pathway to medical transition.

What people in the comments fail to realise is that much of the concerns surrounding trans women’s access to women’s spaces has absolutely nothing to do with trans people at all, but the fact that self-ID leaves it up to exploitation so that a man can pretend he is trans to access spaces.
Recently on this very sub a news item was shared where a volunteer male police officer was found to have raped a minor. Following arrest and charge, he changed his gender ID to woman. This is an example of how violent men/sex offenders can use it for their own ends.
Criticising this has absolutely nothing to do with trans people.
The issue is, that now we rely on self-ID, it’s very hard to know who is genuinely a trans person and who isn’t. Whereas previously, someone went through a solid process of transitioning (not necessarily medically but speaking to a doctor and a psychiatrist and making sure it’s the right choice for them).
