Jesus Christ, are you constantly sick? That looks like hell.

    2. smashedspuds on

You can report to the RTB and search for another place in the meantime

    3. Narrow_Award_5321 on

I’ve been in a similar situation. Get the f out. Notify them again, take screenshots of messages, emails and take pictures which you’ve done. They have 14 days to get someone out to sort it which naturally they won’t be able to do. Report to the rtb and find somewhere else. I don’t care how hard it is to find somewhere else or how much more you’ll pay, that’s a major health hazard. You’ll get your deposit back once you’ve reported to rtb. Contact threshold if you need help. Your health is all that matters

You’ll end up like the family in Resident Evil 7 at this rate

Living there is a serious health concern, personally id be gone

They should be renting it out as a movie set for horror films if ‘beside front door’ is anything to go by.

    7. SubstantialGoat912 on

Report to RTB and Revenue. And maybe hold your breath until you move out?

Jesus Christ, nothing surprises me in this country. This is absolutely sick. Can you contact a local TD (SD, PBP, SF or Labour or a decent Independent?)

Editing to add two solidarity stories, I have about 80 in my repertoire.

      1. One of my landlords was a pervert who used to let himself into my room and one time I was in bed with a guy and he came in!!!
      2. I lived in another house that was built literally, into a sinkhole. The entire house was mouldy and was sideways. I had to tie myself into my office chair because the house was so sideways the office chair would roll across the room even with me in it 😂 Also that landlord had himself put plastic pipes as our hit water pipes, “secured them” with masking tape and then the hot water melted the pipes and flooded our kitchen/sitting room. The young plumber who we eventually got the landlord to call said it was “the most dangerous thing he’d ever seen” and then took a photo to put it on his plumbing Instagram page that was photos of dangerous plumbing in rentals. Anywayyyy haha hope that makes you feel ….better??

You should invest in a really good dehumidifier. It should stop the mould/mildew growth and also great for drying clothes.
I know it doesn’t justify the rent increase but it will help you live there more comfortably.

100% drop your landlord an email with these pictures to let them know you are taking legal action.

You need to move I’m afraid. Nothing short of gutting the gaff will fix that damp. Also, sockets look very dangerous. I would contact local city/ county council and ask for someone to call over to complete a report, that will prevent landlord from renting it out in that state again. But ultimately you will need to find a new place. That house is cooked.

    12. Anxious_Reporter_601 on

Jesus Christ… Seconding that you need to contact the RTB. And get your lings checked out, that can’t be okay to live with.

    13. FlyAdorable7770 on

You need to get out of there, that’s a health hazard and probably should be condemned.

I know things are not great for accommodation but that is simply dreadful and nobody should live in those conditions.

Honestly you’d be safer in a tent somewhere. This will not change, this will not be fixed. And now you’ve to pay more for the privilege of living there?

      I would just leave.

    14. I have some similar ones and some I don’t have. My landlord deffo has the money but just can’t be arsed.

I would love to GTFO as others here have so eloquently put it, but where to?

    15. Yeah you’re taking years off your life living there. I know not much of a choice and all that but Jesus

    16. Intelligent_Aide_479 on

What a shithole , feel better about the little damp on my bathroom ceiling now 🤣😭

    17. rayhoughtonsgoals on

That’s how you have 30 properties – you literally can’t give a shit. If you did, you couldn’t maintain 30 old Dublin houses as rentals. Guys like this need to be shut down

    18. SilentCup8901 on

I know there’s many such cases when it comes to landlords in Ireland, but if this is in Dublin then I have suspicions it’s my former landlord. He owns a lot of properties, is a business owner and once left me without a functioning toilet flush for 3 months. There were mushrooms growing from our shower on the floor (was a 3rd story apartment, mind you) and his response was ‘buy a humidifer’.

Shortly before I left, the hoover broke (googled and it was a budget 70 euro hoover) – he gave me the address of somewhere to get it fixed and told me to ‘get the bus’, while carrying the hoover. Would have preferred I trek on the bus carrying a big hoover and pay the repair fee upfront myself than spend 70 quid on a new one.

He also withheld my 1500 euro deposit, citing a ‘missing door stop’. RTB did fuck all. It’s the shame of our country that these people are given the space to thrive and prosper at the expense of us all.

You need to move or clean the mould with mould killer. That stuff can kill you. Ventilate the place like mad, get an air purifier if you can afford one! Seriously.

    20. expectationlost on

Report it to the RTB its your ethical duty to do so even if he kicks you out or you leave.

    21. scene_missing on

Jesus is that actually your bathroom or screenshots from the new Silent Hill remake?

    22. Defiant-Face-7237 on

Had the same. Problem is when you report it, you’ll be moved out so they can fix it… then you’ll be homeless

    23. CDobb456 on

As scary as the mould looks it’s the electrics I’m worried about. They should not be that low to the ground, they’re a death trap

    24. Mr_RtotheR on

Be careful with the Black Mold, it’s affecting the lungs in a slower way,it’s very very dangerous.

Can lead to future lung disease.

    25. LorenzoBargioni on

Open a window. Making your home airtight is the cause of this

    26. Naive-Hat3807 on

You could get seriously ill with all that mold. Not good

    27. tulip104 on

Property should be condemned with life threatening mold like this.
Surely there’s a government agency in your town that can help when
      you show these photos
