Not that I approve of the decision but the “UK *independent* space agency *scrapped* to cut costs” means that it’s being merged into another department (DSIT) rather than outright cancelled.

I’ve always regarded it as international “mine’s bigger than yours …”
No reason what it does can’t be done in already existing areas of government with a reduction in bureaucratic overhead.

Honestly I’d scrap international aid before this, even India still gets aid from us and they have a space program.
