I dati del governo del Regno Unito e dell’UE da spostare in cloud di Google e Microsoft. Il passaggio apre l’accesso per le autorità statunitensi, approfondisce la dipendenza dai singoli fornitori e mina la sovranità digitale

Absolutely shameful. Kickstarting a european google/microsoft alternative should be an urgent and prime objective of the EU. There’s linux but we need a real european cloud database.
Ok, so why should i nog just five out my finance data to the public?
Like if the gov does not care anymore, why should I?
Or my medical records, or my personal data
I think it increases dependence on the United States.
Where the hell is European tech? Setting up a European cloud service should not be too difficult. All it requires is capital. EU could just invest/grant money to a couple of European players to help them kickstart their data centers and then these kinds of contracts should be given to them!
Europe is too busy with the stupid stuff to see that it is being beaten in Tech the sector that will matter the most 20 years from now!!
And there is not a single thing Europe can do about it.
There is no European tech because years ago politicians decided to make it impossible for tech companies to be competitive. There are many reasons, for example socialist policies not allowing flexible employment, etc. Also there is just insane amount of paperwork needed for everything in EU, it seems politicians love it, but startups struggle with it
Well there isn’t a lot of choice is there? We outsourced the European digital space to Silicon Valley decades ago, there are talks of decreasing this dependence but it’s half-a**ed efforts a lot of the time. Like how Europe completely failed to catch on the EV and AI race with the rest of the world
Shame shame shame.
There is not a single sentences in this article saying EU government data to be moved into Google and Microsoft’s clouds.
There is no mention of EU government data in the article
This is old news (Google making concessions to the EU that is) and much more begging for clicks over this headline that is not at all reflected by the article. Terrible article. And yes, I too think we need EU tech on these matters.
Europe refuses to build its own infrastructure. We will forever be dependent on the US.
At least in the case of the EU, they are moved onto isolated servers that are located in the EU. It’s a separate cloud instance and data from that instance does not pass to Global/US servers.
Not saying it’s perfect, but it’s compliant with our Data Protection requirements.
WTF? Are they stupid? Who is in charge of this?
